Director's Welcome

Amy Lind headshotWelcome to the Charles Phelps Taft Research Center at the University of Cincinnati, a place for interdisciplinary discussion and innovation.

Taft Research Center offers an array of university and public humanities programs designed to bring people together across the 14 Taft-member departments in the humanities and social sciences, and beyond.

Taft faculty are concerned with research on humanity across time, across languages, and across cultures. From scientific to literary research, from studies of identity and society to logic and ethics, faculty research provides tools for advances in humanity as well as ways to rethink humanism itself. We host a series of distinguished visiting lecturers, as well as our own faculty scholars, who engage in a range of issues that often extend beyond the traditional ambit of the humanities and address issues of both local and global importance.

We also offer a range of award and fellowship programs for Taft faculty such as the Center Fellows program and Taft research seminars, awards and fellowships for undergraduate and graduate students who are conducting original research, and funding for Taft departments to enrich their students’ experiences.

I invite you to be an integral part of our dialogue. Explore our website, join our mailing list, attend our events, and please contact us about any ideas you may have for collaboration.

Looking forward to our conversations!
